The promotion of the process of personal, cultural, civil and social growth of its students is the ultimate goal of the boarding school. It is well integrated and harmonises with the goals of all types of schools the Educandato boarding school offers its students.
The educational features of the Educandato Statale SS. Annunziata are expressed most significantly in its day boarding and girl boarding school approaches.. All of the students attending the various schools offered by the Educandato, in fact, are obligated to attend the day boarding program that lasts for the whole day, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday to Friday.
In parallel with the lessons offered by the scholastic program, the educational personnel cooperates with the teaching staff in promoting knowledge and growth in the students, and operate within the activities planned for both the full and day boarders.
The educational personnel that takes the students in charge at the end of classes play important educational and teaching roles.
During the educational approach, in fact, the Educator applies his or her skills in providing both individual and group support, joining in the study methodology and interacting with the teaching staff.
When morning classes end, according to the various school timetables, the Educator accompanies the students to the dining hall and makes sure they follow correct eating habits and conduct themselves as indicated by good educational standards.
During the educational period, after classes, the aim of the Educator is to promote socialisation, respect and self-awareness by proposing play, recreational and cultural initiatives.
The educational activities are held during the students’ leisure time and during study hours by their participation in workshops, debates, sports, theatre, movies, educational outings and events.
Organisation of day boarding activities in lower secondary school
At the end of classes, lower secondary school full and day boarders are placed in charge of the educational staff. At 1 p.m. from Monday to Thursday and from midday on Friday the students are accompanied by their educators to the dining hall to have lunch, during which time they are taught how to follow correct eating habits and conduct themselves as indicated by good educational standards.
For recreational break, children are escorted to the garden. This break is followed by a guided studyperiod in which the children do the homework assigned to them by their teachers. he educators guide the afternoon study activities of the class placed in his/her care in such a way as to encourage cooperation with the curricular teachers and to ensure the teaching and educational continuity between school and day boarding activities. The educator acts as a support in their studies and creates the proper and serene environment conducive to concentration and correct relations.
Organization of day boarding activities in upper secondary school
At the end of classes, the students are entrusted to the class educator who accompanies them to lunch after logging any extraordinary permissions by parents to leave school early. By having lunch with them, the educator makes sure all of the students are present at the table and that all of them eat in a healthy and correct manner, with special focus on those who need to follow special diets.
Lunch is followed by the recreational break in which the students are free to move freely within the Institute’s common areas but always under the surveillance of the educators.
The guided study period starts once the break is over and ends at 5 p.m.
During this period each class educator is in charge of:
- attending to the students as they do the homework assigned to them by their teachers,
- of helping them acquire their own effective study method,
- and of guiding and assisting the students in every activity planned and carried out, thereby promoting the teaching and educational aspects of their upbringing while making sure each one achieves cultural enrichment.
