The music workshops project was born out of the desire to create a cultural movement that would trigger and cultivate a passion for the study of music on an individual and group level.
At the boarding school we nurture the absolute conviction that the study of music is highly enriching and constructive of the child’s thinking and emotional state and that it can benefit concentration, further relations with others and boost growth self-awareness.
The following courses are offered:
We are currently considering the possibility of creating a choir class which we hope will start as early as September 2022.
Our music teachers all boast important artistic and pedagogic resumes.
The ‘Il Poggio’ Quartet
Villa di Poggio Imperiale has always had a strong musical vocation. From the Sala Bianca to the Sala Rosa, many are the halls that over the centuries have welcomed internationally renowned artists and musicians who have delighted audiences. Suffice it to say that within these historical walls a barely fourteen-year-old Mozart gave his first and only Florentine concert in 1770.
Music has always inhabited this splendid villa, becoming a study subject for the ladies of the good families who were guests of the Collegio from the second half of the 1800s onwards.
In more recent and modern times, numerous concerts have been held in the Sala Bianca on the occasion of cultural, charitable and institutional events.
Therefore, to honour its long and historical musical tradition, today the Educandato Statale “SS. Annunziata” boarding school boasts the foundation of the “Il Poggio” Quartet, an all-female ensemble consisting of Francesca Fedeli (soprano), Anastasiya Byshlyaha (piano), Francesca Bing (violin) and Federica Finardi (cello),who wish to carry on the long artistic history of this cultural institution with passion, skill and high professionalism.
